Research and essays on various aspects of Middletown, Connecticut, history created by amateur historian "Doc" Ward. Also town records and Middlesex County Court records he rescued from the town dump, including summonses, warrants, selectmen's correspondence, minutes of the Court of Common Council, petitions, bills and receipts related to the construction and upkeep of roads and bridges, petitions for constructing sewers, tax records, information about state and town elections, probate records, school records, records related to the poor of Middletown, both those within the town and those residing elsewhere, two documents about the borders of town, reports of bank stockholders, burial reports, records of the Emergency Relief Administration (1934-1935) and the Mayor's Committee on Unemployment (1930-1933). Individuals represented in the collection by bills and receipts are Curtis S. Bacon, C.B. Leach, John B. and Arthur M. Coughlin and William J. Coughlin.
